| The Michigan Aggregates Association, together with AIS Construction Equipment, will be hosting Annual Refresher Training Courses at AIS locations throughout Michigan during January, February and April 2012.
AIS will provide the training facilities and meals for the training courses. Michigan Aggregates Association will provide Annual Refresher Training Courses for attendees. AIS Construction Equipment and Michigan Aggregates Association are dedicated to safely advancing and promoting the industry.
MAA Training topics to be covered include: fatal facts; first aid/CPR/artificial respiration review; safety awareness; hearing conservation; Hazcom; communcation/setting safety goals; mine area inspections; and training/MSHA compliance. Each aggregate production facility must also address any changes at their location that affects the safety and health of the workers in order to comply with MSHA regulations.
CPR/First Aid Training that meets and exceeds the MSHA requirements will also be available. This is an eight-hour course, including four hours of First Aid and four hours of CPR. There will be a separate charge of $75 per person for this class. The eight-hour CPR/First Aid course is only necessary if you need to be fully certified and have the card. The MSHA first aid standard is listed below:
30 CFR 56.18010 First Aid
An individual capable of providing first aid shall be available on all shifts. The individual shall be currently trained and have the skills to perform patient assessment and artificial respiration; control bleeding; and treat shock, wounds, burns, and musculoskeletal injuries. First aid training shall be made available to all interested miners.
The First Aid card is good for three years and the CPR card is good for two years.
Each company must update their training plans to reflect Michigan Aggregates Association as the competent training organization, and this updated plan must be posted for the employees to view at least two weeks before the training. If you need assistance updating your plan, please contact the MAA office.
Training certificates will be completed in the classroom at the end of each day, but companies must be aware that, to be valid, the certificate must be signed by the person who is responsible for the company’s safety and health. MAA/AIS will not be responsible for lost cards.
The MAA/AIS partnership is designed to keep training costs affordable for producing companies who wish to attend. The room and meals are provided by AIS at no charge to the companies attending. MAA will invoice $40 per person to cover the costs of the MSHA annual refresher training and $75 per person for First Aid/CPR training. Attendees are scheduled on a first come-first serve basis.
All reservations must be made through the MAA Office. Online registration is available. See instructions in left sidebar.
