A big thanks to the many MAA members that participated in the 2016 General Membership Survey. As was highlighted when this 67 question survey was published in January 2016, we want to ensure that MAA is operating in a manner that is consistent with the desires of the membership.
As you may recall, this comprehensive survey touched on numerous MAA member services including the Board of Directors’ leadership, administrative services, membership meetings and committee structures.
We are pleased to report that overall the membership feels that MAA is headed in the right direction and conveyed that not only is the the BOD is providing proper leadership and direction but the various MAA committees are addressing relevant issues.

Once the survey results were summarized, the MAA Executive Steering Committee examined the responses and met to review and take appropriate action.
There were many items discussed and both long term and short term goals were identified. Over time these items will be discussed and rolled out. However, one of the biggest short term changes was to a few of the MAA events.
As are result of the survey our membership is pleased with number of general membership meetings (currently 3) but would like to move the Annual (spring) meeting from April to February. Based on your feedback, during the April MAA BOD meeting, the Executive Steering committee recommended to the BOD that the Annual meeting be officially moved to February. The BOD approved the request and we are pleased to announce that the 2017 MAA Annual Conference and Showcase will be held in February. Therefore, please mark your calendars for the 2017 Annual Conference and Showcase that will be held at the Blue Water Convention Center in Port Huron on February 23 and 24, 2017.
Another major event change as a result of the Executive Steering Committee is the addition of an Annual Awards Banquet that will be held April 20, 2017 at the County Club of Lansing. The event will allow for companies to receive recognition for safety awards, environmental awards, along with the recognition of the Mike Newman Distinguished Service Award, and to honor the outgoing MAA Chairman in an atmosphere more conducive to award recognition. The 2017 event will begin at 6:00 pm and will include a dinner so please mark your calendar for this new event.
