The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s Air Quality Division is offering two back-to-back workshops to help get your air quality questions answered.
Air Permit to Install (PTI) Workshop
9:00 am – 12:00 pm
The PTI Workshop is for anyone required to obtain an air permit or who is interested in learning more about the air permit process. This workshop will address what constitutes an administratively complete application, explain what must be included in a complete application, and include a question-and-answer session. A limited number of one-on-one sessions with a permit engineer will be available for attendees with questions regarding an actual, on-going project. These sessions may be requested during the registration, as space allows. All attendees will receive the Air Permit to Install Workbook.
Potential to Emit (PTE) Workshop
1:00pm – 4:00 pm
Many businesses are required to calculate their Potential to Emit (PTE) air contaminants to determine if they are subject to specific state and federal air quality regulations. Calculating PTE can be confusing because it is different than calculating actual emissions. This afternoon workshop is ideal for those who want to understand why determining PTE is important and how to do it. MDEQ staff will take attendees step-by-step through calculating a facility’s PTE. The workshop will also provide guidance on how to evaluate PTE to determine if a facility is a major or minor source of air pollution and which options are available to comply with the regulations. All attendees will receive the PTE Workbook.
