The 2017 MAA "A Christmas Story" Winter Conference
During the 2018 MAA Winter Conference, the MAA Public Relations Committee will be holding a silent auction to raise money for the MAA Foundation. Therefore, this is a formal request to the entire MAA membership for donations of items, excursions, services, or even monetary donations to help make this second annual silent auction a success.
The silent auction will be held during the evening reception on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit.
All of the money raised for this event will go towards the MAA Foundation to fund scholarship and educational services.
In acknowledgement of your generosity, your contribution will be recognized on the event flyer and proudly displayed during the MAA Winter Conference.
Examples of items donations:
- Weekend Package getaways (Crystal Mountain, Grand Traverse Resort)
- Hunting Camp weekend
- Charter Fishing/Pheasant Hunt/ Duck Hunt
- Golf Outings packages
- Sporting event tickets
- Crossbows/Muzzle loaders/shot guns
- Yeti coolers

In the spirt of the Holiday season, the Michigan Aggregates Association (MAA) has once again partnered with the US Marine Corps Reserve and the Toys for Tots program to help reach their primary goal of delivering a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters. By donating a new toy at Christmas, MAA will assist children in becoming responsible, productive, and patriotic citizens.
This is the second year MAA has designated Toys for Tots as the association holiday charity. Participants include aggregate producers along with the equipment manufacturers and service providers (responsible for the production and delivery of essential raw materials used in our homes, buildings, roads, bridges and public works projects). During the 2017 Michigan Aggregates Association Winter Conference a message of hope will be sent by providing an unwrapped toy during their Winter Conference.
“During the holiday season it is a nice change of pace to work collectively to make the holiday magical for those less fortunate,” Doug Needham, President of MAA and organizer of MAA’s Toys for Tots drive, explained. “It is really amazing that something as simple as buying gifts for children can bring so much cheer into the office.”
The official presentation of toys to the US Marine Corps will take place December 1, 2017 at 8:00pm at the Amway Grand, Pantlind Ballroom.
To help with the collection of toys, MAA has a number of donation boxes ready to be deployed to member companies. If you would like a box for your office, please contact the MAA office and make arrangements for delivery.
2017 MAA "A Christmas Story" Winter Conference Registration
Registration is now open for the 2017 MAA Winter Conference. This years theme is – A Christmas Story!
There are a number of exciting events and speakers planned for this year’s conference. Our event kicks off with a welcome reception at 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 30, 2017. We are not anticipating formal attire for this event. We are thinking a suit and tie for men and evening/cocktail dress for the women.
We are doing the Toys for Tots again this year so upon your arrival on Thursday night, you will be asked to place an unwrapped toy in a box marked “Toys for Tots”. MAA has made arrangements again this year for a visit from the U.S. Marines during this event to gather the toys for children in need.
Over the course of the evening you will be treated to the great sounds of the Simone Vitale Band. Friday morning will start with a filling breakfast followed by a number of great speakers including members of the MAA BOD as well as a host of other highly influential key note speakers.
