MAA Adopts Bylaw Changes at 2016 Winter Conference


As you are aware, on October 27, 2016 MAA distributed proposed bylaw changes for review and provided notice that a vote on the proposed changes will take place during the MAA Winter Conference (that was held December 2, 2016).

A summary of the proposed changes involved the following:

  • Renaming and defining the following Member Classifications
    • Supplying Member
      • Reselling, brokerage, contract recycle crusher, dock storage
    • Associate Member
      • Professional Service Provider, Supplier/Vendor, Contractor, Redi-Mix Supplier, HMA supplier, Transportation/Freight, University
    • Dues determination
      • Move from “sale value” to “MSHA person hours” for Producer Members and flat rate for Supplying and Associate Members
    • Additional changes
      • Ability for BOD representing Supplying and Associate Members to cast votes
      • Ability for Supplying and Associate Members to vote on bylaw amendments
      • Creation of Board Development Committee

Article XII of the Bylaws (as amended March 27, 2014) stated that the “bylaws may be amended at any meeting of the Members of the Association, by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the Producing Members casting a vote…”

MAA is pleased to report that after compiling the votes cast on December 2, 2016, 100% of the producing member casting votes approved the proposed changes.
