In the spirit of continuous improvement, the MAA Environmental Committee has begun conducting peer environmental audits of member facilities. As part of these audits, committee members conduct a walk thru of various aspects of the producer’s operations including their lab, quarry mining operations, crushing and screening operations, oil storage building, garage, etc. In each area there is a focus on air quality, oil storage/spill control, trash, housekeeping and water quality.
This past week, the first environmental audit was conducted at Great Lakes Aggregates – Sylvania Facility. A big thanks to Great Lakes Aggregates for allowing the committee into their operations and helping us build and develop this valuable MAA service.
