MAA Lobbies D.C. for Sustainable Infrastructure Funding

Last week, MAA along with various companies from not only Michigan but also across the nation visited Washington D.C. to take part in the 2017 Transportation Construction Coalition – Fly In.

The Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC) was established in 1996 and includes 31 national associations (including NSSGA) and labor unions with a direct market interest in the federal transportation programs. The TCC focuses on the federal budget and surface transportation program policy issues.

During our visit, MAA discussed the recently passed FAST Act highway transportation bill and the necessity to ensure that there is a long-term sustainable platform to provide adequate funding due to the fact that the current highway bill is funded with a series of gimmicks that are not sustainable.

MAA also stressed the need to properly fund our aging and failing underground infrastructure and airports.

We also highlighted the many great advancements in Michigan and that even though our state recently passed a $1.2 billion increase to address our failing transportation network there is still a need for additional federal dollars.

A special thanks to the following companies for accompanying MAA and ensuring Michigan’s voice is heard at the federal level (Stoneco, Cadillac Paving, Michigan Paving & Materials).

If you have any questions or would like to discuss in detail, please give the MAA office a call at 517-381-1732.
